Behind the Scenes: A Set Built from our (not so) Fabric Waste
For the campaign photoshoot of SEQUENCE SS26, we didn’t want a
conventional backdrop.
Instead, we designed and built our entire set using fabric waste acquired from
our own production. Offcuts, old backdrops, discarded samples, and remnants
from previous productions, along with Acchada, our base cloth for all the
beautiful block prints done here, was given a new life.
What’s usually limited to smaller trims and products, became the larger visual
language of the shoot.
Layered, Draped, Structured, Knotted and Reconstructed .
The waste transformed into sculptural forms, textured walls, and immersive
surfaces that proudly put forth the production’s core idea: that discarded
materials still hold beauty, potential, and narrative. Additionally we got old steel
dabbas, brass kettles and also the iconic old ghee containers to elevate the set.
Nothing was purely decorative.
Everything had a previous life.
By building the set this way, we reduced new production and decorative waste
which would otherwise have been used once and stored away!
